How to Skyrocket Your Success
No matter what path your choose to pursue, success on our own terms is the goal. The only thing better than being successful, is getting than faster than you thought possible. I want to show you the best ways to skyrocket your success right now.
Get Crystal Clear About Your Goals
Many people are never as successful as they would like to be, because they don’t challenge themselves to achieve at a high level. One of the best success principles I have ever learned and practiced is how to set a goal the right way. I have made huge dents in my debt, earned a graduate degree, reached major milestones for my business just to name a few.
When setting your goal make sure you are VERY specific. It is not enough to say “I want to start a business.” Instead say this, “ I operate a local gourmet cupcake business that generates $200 in profits by June 30, 2012” The second goal is positive, present tense, realistic, measurable and time bound. Write down your top 10 goals morning and night to the best results. Speaking them out loud is even more powerful.
Uncover the Why
Now that you have 3-5 goals in the positive, present tense. Think about what will drive you to work until you achieve them. Is it freedom, having enough money to cover your expenses, and give some away. Perhaps you want to live a long independent life (great motivator for health and fitness goals.) Writing down your “whys” will help you be successful in record time.
Carefully Connect
You are only as successful as the company you keep. So get around people who are going where you are going or who have already made it. Dead weight will only slow down your progress. Iron sharpens iron. Be sure you add value to those you spend time with. One of my mentors Mr. Joe Knight shared this bit of wisdom with me “ You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”
Focus on the Solutions
Too many people get stuck in their problems, obstacles, setbacks and what seem to be limitations. Instead of complaining, or getting discouraged, try this. When you encounter an problem blocking your success, list twenty possible solutions to your challenge. It works! We tried this exercise I learned from Brian Tracy during one of my Inspirational Monday calls. You will be amazed at how fast you can break down barriers on condition your mind to be solution oriented.
