We
all know black is beautiful and that many gorgeous women are curvy and
voluptuous. Unfortunately, many beautiful African American women find
themselves genetically predisposed to struggling with their weight. While our
heritage has given us amazing skin and wonderful hair, it has also given us a
genetic tendency towards a slower metabolism and higher insulin resistance,
both of which can lead to increased weight gain. If you find yourself
struggling with these issues and longing to get back to those beautiful curves,
there are options available to you. A detox diet is a great way to clear the
body and soul of anything that is holding you back from being the best you that
you can be.
A
detox diet is a way of changing what you eat so that you are eating foods that
are healthy for you both physically and spiritually. Changing your consumption
habits allows your body to remove all of the nasty toxins that we often eat
without realizing it. While your liver and kidneys work hard to expel these
things from your body naturally, consuming high levels of these toxins can
render your body unable to process them all. It is much healthier to avoid
consuming altogether, if possible.
There
are a number of detox diets, but they all have certain tenants in common to
ensure that you become your ideal you. Detox diets place a lot of emphasis on
eating natural fruits and vegetables, as they are rich in nutrients and
generally do not have preservatives and other toxins. It is suggested that
these fruits and vegetables be organic if possible. Detox diets also suggest
that you avoid processed foods altogether. It is also recommended that you
limit your alcohol intake or even stop consuming alcohol all together. While
the occasional glass of wine can improve your heart health, generally alcohol
just fills your body with carbohydrates and toxins. As with almost any diet, a
detox diet will encourage you to drink as much water as possible.
Following
the rules of a detox diet will cause you to consume fewer toxins, but it also
leads to you making healthier choices in general. African American women who
struggle with their weight will find that a detox diet helps them choose foods
with both fewer toxins and fewer calories, leading to increased health and a
more manageable weight.
However,
the benefits of a detox diet extend beyond weight loss. These toxins that build
up in your body not only cause you to gain weight, they also cause your body’s
natural energy to flow poorly. As your body eliminates the toxins that are
holding you back, you will find that you have increased energy and a much more
positive mental state. Sometimes, the same things that are causing you to have
physical issues can lead to emotional and spiritual issues. Detox diets are a
great way for African American women to become who they have always wanted to
be, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.
